We're pleased to launch our new website. Give it a look. We have incorporated the art work of international artist Hector Vega in the website and in this newsletter. Shortly we will be offering Hector's work for licensing for festival posters, programs, t-shirts, mugs and more. Stay tuned.
Each artist page on the new website has everything you need to get to know the artist, as well as all the promotional materials. We've included hi-res photos, three minute Mp3 audio samples that you can download or link to on your website, videos, bios, reviews and more.
In addition, we are now providing access to each artists full album for download to your computer, iPod or Mp3 player. Each artist page contains a link to request access to our download site. Please note that access can only be given to verifiable presenters who produce festivals, PAC's, clubs, college presenters, or private events. All other requests will be forwarded to the label.

continuing to build momentum. C.A.R.E. Music Group GmbH in released their first album "Coolidge Returns"
throughout Europe this past August. They have just
completed a three week tour in Europe
in September to rave reviews and packed clubs. They'll be touring
on the west coast and midwest in the later half of February and
back to Europe in March. Godfathers of Groove with Donald Harrison

e Godfathers
of
Groove's third album titled "3",was released in August on the 18th
& Vine label (Jack Kreisberg) and enjoyed 18
weeks on jazz radio. The group has been touring extensively for
the past
several years, including dates with Kevin Mahogany and Red
Holloway. This coming year, legendary sax man Donald Harrison
will be touring with the soul group. Organ master Reuben
Wilson also released his latest album, "Azure Te" in August on 18th
& Vine as well. Bernard Purdie has also been
leading the pit band in Broadway's revival of "Hair". See

Trio of Oz with Rachel Z and Omar Hakim
12/11/09: Piano poet Rachel Z has teamed up with Weather Report alum drummer Omar Hakim to form Trio of Oz. This hot new group just released an album on Pony Canyon (M&I) in Japan titled "I Will Possess Your Heart. After touring extensively with her previous group "Dept of Good and Evil" (see the article in Downbeat), Rachel has been focusing on teaching at the New School in NYC, forming her new project and recording.

Lorraine Feather
12/11/09: "Ages,"
the follow-up to lyricist/vocalist Lorraine Feather's acclaimed 2008
release "Language," debuts on February 9, 2010. Language received
numerous rave reviews and rose to #1 on the JazzWeek radio airplay
chart. Media coverage reached a peak when NPR's Susan Stamberg
interviewed Lorraine on the Weekend Edition program.The music on Feather's new release is by Russell Ferrante [Yellowjackets], Shelly Berg, Eddie Arkin, Bela Fleck, and Dick Hyman, who all guest as musicians (some of the tracks also incorporate unusual percussion such as a trash can and dog bowl). The original songs on "Ages" range from the hilarious to the heart-rending; Feather's lyrics cover a wide range of topics including marriage, death, B vitamins, long-held yearnings, grammar school, and Scrabble--commentaries on life as she has known it “from zero to sixty."
In addition to her career as a jazz singer-songwriter, Feather is a working lyricist who has earned seven Emmy nominations. In 2009 she produced an animated short based on her Fats Waller reinvention “You're Outa Here". The short has been shown at 35 festivals internationally to date, and has won several awards, including Best Music Video at the South Beach Animation Festival. Chuchito Valdes
12/11/09: Latin Grammy nominated master Cuban pianist Chuchito Valdes, has been
tearing it up at
festivals all summer
including the Detroit Jazz Festival, Lancaster Music Series, Oakville
Jazz Fest, Daytona Beach International Festival and the Pensacola Jazz
Festival. He just completed a 3 day engagement at Latino Arts in
Milwaukee where he conducted a number of clinics and a sold out grand
performance to rave reviews. Chuchito was featured in a 3-disc CD with
his father Chucho and his grandfather Bebo on "Dinastia
Valdes" released by Sony this past April.Tours

12/11/09: Two time Grammy nominee Sammy Figueroa will be showcasing at the APAP convention on Friday 1/08 at 12Midnight at Iridium Jazz Club. Sammy wil be presenting his Cal Tjader inspired group called "Sally's Tomato." Sammy played in a gala event at Arscht Center for Performing Arts in Miami on 12/04 in a concert produced by Larry Rosen titled "Jazz Roots - An Evening with Dave Grusin." The concert also featured Jon Secada, Patti Austin, Gary Burton, Arturo Sandoval and Nestor Torres.

Hot Club of Detroit
12/11/09 The Hot Club of Detroit has enjoyed a prolific year with the release of their second CD on Mack Avenue and performances with James Carter and Frank Vignolla. They just performed in September at the DjangoFest Northwest in Langley, WA along with Howard Alden. Their third album on Mack Ave will be released in the spring - stay tuned for a date.
The Hot Club of Detroit will be celebrating the 100th birthday of Django Rinehardt in 2010/2011 with performances at PAC's and festivals. On many of these dates they will be joined by Minneaoplis based singer Connie Evingson. You can see The Hot Club of Detroit with Connie Evingson at the APAP convention showcase at the Hilton/Harlem Suite on Sunday 1/10.

Chicago Jazz Orchestra with Paquito D'Rivera
12/11/09: The Chicago Jazz Orchestra will be performing Nelson Riddle's "Cross Country Suite" with special guest Paquito D'Rivera on clarinet at PAC's and orchestra halls throughout the U.S. next season. This magnificent suite of 11 movements, represents different areas of the U.S. In addition to the big band the arrangements call for full symphonic orchestra as well as a harmonica. The Nelson Riddle penned and arranged suite was originally written for Buddy DeFranco. More details soon.
The Chicago Jazz Orchestra will be performing for the 20th time at The Kennedy Center Honors. Receiving awards this year are Mel Brooks, Dave Brubeck, Robert DeNiro, Bruce Springsteen, and opera singer Grace Bumbry.

following up
her two smash Billboard charting albums with her third album to be
released in the spring on E1 (formerly Koch) and Sony/Europe.
Robin has been touring non-stop in the U.S.,
Canada and Europe to rave
reviews and packed clubs. Highlights from 2009 include three
nights at Blue Note/NYC, Cactus Jazz and Blues Festival, Oakville
Jazz Fest, Jazz Aspen, Scullers, Nighttown, Dakota, and the Jazz
Kitchen. Robin will be showcasing with her quartet at APAP in the

Mose Allison
12/11/09: Mose Allison will be releasing a new album this March on the Epitaph label titled "The Way of the World". This new record was produced by Joe Henry, who has produced albums for Allen Toussaint, Blind Boys of Alabama, Loudon Wainwright III, Bettye LaVette and Aimee Mann. Mose will be performing in a concert in tribute to The Who at Carnegie Hall in March. The concert is produced by Michael Dorf.
