Cornetist and bandleader Jim Cullum has made the study of classic jazz his life's work.  As a teenager, he locked onto the sounds of Louis Armstrong and Bix Beiderbecke. Today, Cullum’s seven-piece, acoustic ensemble specializes in jazz and popular song from the turn of the 20th century to the mid-1940s.  Though early jazz is at the basis of their sound, the ensemble transcends the genre, bringing its original compositions, high energy and virtuosity to the form.

Acclaimed jazz journalist Nat Hentoff writes, “The Jim Cullum Jazz Band plays hot swinging jazz” and The New York Times says the band has “…polish and style that goes well beyond what is usually heard…”.
